The Vergelegen Trail Experience – Saturday, 17 October

The specially selected route traverses the farm and includes a visit to:

The Manor House and Gardens: The route starts in the historic precinct of Vergelegen to admire the gardens.

The Lourens River and Orchards: From the gardens, the trail leads to the Lourens River, then passing through the orchards.

The Nguni Cattle Grazing Areas: The route continues into the grazing areas for the Nguni cattle and our resident antelope species.

Our Renosterveld and Alien Plant Recovery Areas: As the trail enters the natural vegetation, it transitions into Renosterveld areas that are still recovering from alien plant removal. Here guests can learn about the conservation efforts and see the results.

Fynbos and Wetlands: The hike progresses through lush fynbos and wetland areas, where guests can learn more about the region’s precious fynbos.

The Game Camp: The route then takes guests past the game camp, offering the chance to observe the wildlife.

The Vineyards: Finally, the trail ascends towards a secret location, providing a fitting end to the hike. Guests will then be transported via a drive past the cellar and vineyards, and back to Stables for lunch.
